Discovering Antwerp: Exploring the City Together with Our Seafarers
At the International Seafarers’ House Antwerp (IZA), we look back with great pleasure on the city walk we organised together with Antwerp Seafarers' Welfare for our seafarers.
It was a fun, engaging and educational walk through the heart of Antwerp. Our seafarers had the opportunity to discover the city from a different perspective and to learn more about its rich history, remarkable buildings and fascinating stories. For many of them, it was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the city where they are temporarily living and working.
But this walk was about much more than simply discovering Antwerp. It was also a valuable moment of relaxation, encounter and connection. Walking together, sharing stories, laughing and enjoying the atmosphere of the city created a wonderful opportunity for personal contact beyond the daily activities of the seafarers’ house.
At IZA, we believe it is important not only to support seafarers, but also to create moments in which they feel welcome, seen and connected. Activities such as this city walk make an important contribution to that mission.
Our sincere thanks go to C.L. and Jörg Pfautch of the German Seamen's Mission for the pleasant cooperation and their enthusiasm in organising this activity together with IZA. A special thank you also goes to ASW for sponsoring this tour.
Finally, we would like to warmly thank our guide, Mrs. D.C. , who brought the history and stories of Antwerp to life with so much passion, knowledge and humour.
Thanks to all of you, this became a truly memorable experience for our seafarers and for everyone who took part.
Discovering together, experiencing together, and above all: connecting with one another.
That is what IZA stands for.
