Storm at Sea, Music Ashore! A Fantastic Karaoke and Music Night at IZA!

The International Seafarers' Centre Antwerp and all participating missions are lookinig back with great pleasure on our music and karaoke night held on friday, 23 October 2026. And what a night it was!

not even Storm Austen could keep our seafarers away! In great numbers, they made their way to the International Seafarers' Centre to enjoy a spectacular life performance by our now world-famous Chaplins' Band! The atmosphere was fantastic from the very beginning. The music brought everyone together, and before long, the microphones were no longer reserved exclusivly for our musical chaplins. Many seafarers spontaneously stepped up to the microphone and sang their hearts out as if they performing on The Voice! 

One thing is certain: we have discovered plenty of hidden singing talents among our seafarers! Who knows? Perhaps the next international superstar will emerge during one of our future karaoke nights! Our Chaplains' Band may soon have some serious competition! Above all, however, it was another wonderful evening in which music helped break down barriers between nationalities, cultures and languages.

 There was singing, laughter and plenty of enjoyment for a few precious hours, there were no worries about the storm outside or the work on board - just time to relax, have fun and enjoy each others company. Because that is precisely what the International Seafarers' Centre Antwerp and its partner mission stand for: a welcoming place where seafarers can meet, feel at home and simply be themselves. 

Our sincere thanks go to the Chaplains' Band, all participating missions our volunteers and, of course, our enthusiastic seafarers, who once again made this evening truly unforgettable. Outside, the storm was raging, but inside,, music, friendship and togetherness created a safe and welcoming harbour! We are already looking forward to the next edition. And to those who did not quiet their to take the microphone this tume: don't worry, their's still time to practice! who knows next time you might just be the new star of the our karaoke night!
